Registration under Income Tax Act,1961

Document required for registration

There are no documents which are required for registration under the Income Tax Act, except company

  • - Only a valid mobile number.
  • - Only a valid E-Mail id.
  • - One of the most important document is Active Permanent Account Number.

Registration can be done only individually not on behalf of the family member.

For Hindu Undivided Family.

Karta will submit his details.


All taxpayer holding active PAN can register on the E-Filling Portal.

A non resident person may also register with his foreign mobile number and future communicats will be done through foreign mobile number and email id provided by him. Procedure for Registrarion

  • Step 1- You have to apply online on the Income Tax Department on E-Filling Portal in the required format.
  • Step 2- Click on the Register Yourself Ttab.
  • Step 3- Now you have to select the User Type.
  • Step 4- Now you have to submit the details such as Name, Address, Date of Birth and Permanent Account Number.
  • Step 5- Now after this you have to submit the login details

Important Note

A 6 digit One Time Password will be sent to the Register Mobile number and to E-Mail Id provided by the user and after you have submitted the correct OTP then you are registered under the Income Tax Act.

  • Step 6- If the commissioner may think fit can pass the order to direct applicants for the additional document.
  • Step 7- After the document received by the commissioner and the commissioner is satisfied, an order will be passed in the writing.
